Earrings for Dillon.

I am a member of a community of great and giving artists called My Crafter's Corner. One of the Crew there has a little brother, Dillon, with a lot going on in his young life. Here's a little from the Group page there:

He's a sweet, happy little boy with a lot of challenges. He's disabled and he had several surgeries last year to try and correct intestinal issues. Their family has had a difficult time, are a long way from home, and the surgeries have become increasingly difficult. Now, he's requiring more surgeries and we are asking that members pick something to sell and donate the proceeds to their family if this is something you are able to do. Or, again, if you're able to make a donation to the family it would be greatly appreciated.

Here is a link to her blog where you can find out more: http://jennie.watero.us/

I've made some earrings that I'm donating all the proceeds to their family. If you'd like to buy them, here's the link: http://www.etsy.com/shop/Aprilbella

Vintage finds: DaKine Junks

So I just found this FaBuLoUs store on Etsy after she started following me on Twitter.
Looking at her store I feel like I've stepped into one of those places that you want to keep a secret, yet you can't help but blab to your five best friends how great it is:) Here's a few of my fave finds:

First is a classic, an old fan in powder blue.Kwik Kool model by Knapp Monarch, made in the USA, $15.00.

The next is fascinating: Antique Printing Block for Letterpress Newspaper Typesetting. The detail is just amazing, $8.50

Who could live without some funky trading cards from the famed "Planet of the Apes"? Fantastic! $6.50, 14 cards.

Finally, delicate and timeless, Ruffled Antique Mayo and Plate by Fenton. $14 for the set.

You HAVE to see the store in it's entirety, so many neat things!

Welcome to the Beginning!!

I'm entering the world of the blog...who knows where we will end up:)

As far back as I can remember, I have loved everything vintage. I have also loved to create. I relish all things art, from the canvas to sculpture; metalwork to glass torchwork. After I had been making jewelry for a number of years, I discovered that there were places that sold vintage beads. I was fascinated by the prospect of making jewelry out of really old beads that had just sat in boxes for years on shelves, seen by no one. I began collecting up stock of my own, and decided recently to make my little Etsy shoppe completely vintage. The pieces look dramatically different from jewelry made with new beads~there seems to be more thought put into these old "new" beads. Wasn't everything in the old days just plain made better? I think so, and in using vintage components I believe you get a more unique and long-lasting product.
With that said, welcome to April Bella, where we'll explore the world of vintage together! My plans for the blog are to discuss my latest work but also showcase my newest finds in a never-ending search for all things vivid vintage:)
